We Want Your Pieces To Last A Lifetime!
We love to say that a carving will take care of you, as long as you take care of it, no different than a deck! We recommend re-sealing your chainsaw carving at least once a year to keep it looking fresh! There are many sealers out there, but Helmsman Spar Urethane is the kind that we use! We seal each pice with a minimum of two coatings, and more if needed!

What Sealer Should I Use?
Helmsman Spar Urethane, oil-based is the sealer we use on each and every one of our pieces! We recommend re-sealing each piece at least once a year! The more sealer you put on, the shinier your piece will be! (You can intead get the semi-gloss or matte finish if you don't prefer the shiny look!) This spar urethane does have a yellowing tint on it, so if your piece has a lot of white on it, or bright colors, you can also use Rustoleum's Clear Gloss Spray Paint! If we have a piece with a lot of color, we will normally seal it first, paint it, then spray it with that to protect everything!

Protecting Your Piece, And Your Floors!
We recommend that every chainsaw carving should have plentiful access for airflow! For smaller pieces, we like to use the nail-in furniture buttons, and shims for bigger sculptures! This allows the wood to breathe, preventing any mold, flooring discoloration, or scratching. A rock bed in your garden, cement, and mulch are some other great options as well!

Where Will I Put My New Carving?
A covered porch is the perfect spot for any chainsaw carving! This is the best way to make sure that your piece is not sitting directly in the sun, or weather. We want your chainsaw carvings to last a long time! In a lanai, sun-room, or even simply in the shade are also wonderful spots for these sculptures! These pieces may go inside or outside! We do recommend that you keep your piece away from any direct heat, as that can dry the wood up too quickly, which can increase the likelyhood of cracking!
What Should I Do If My Chainsaw Carving Cracks?!
After about a year or two, if your chainsaw carving experiences any cracks, we will work you into our schedule for a repair!
We want all of our pieces to last a lifetime, and are happy to help you maintain your carvings!
